Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers on compliance, access, and how Prevexia works.
Is Prevexium HIPAA compliant?
Prevexium is HIPAA-aligned by design, and no patient health information is ever required to use any Prevexium tool. Prevexia AI works from clinical knowledge and public guidelines, not patient records. Text you type is screened and detected patient identifiers are removed before it is processed or stored; photos and voice recordings are not automatically screened, so keep identifiers out of them. All data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Business Associate Agreements will be available to Facility & Enterprise customers once our agreements with our own service providers are in place. Please do not enter PHI on any plan.
Is my data used to train AI models?
No. We never train AI models on your conversations or inputs. Anthropic and OpenAI, which process your text, photos and audio, do not train on API data by default, and we have opted out of model training with Voyage AI, which powers search. Prevexia runs on curated clinical knowledge and authoritative public guidelines; what you type stays yours.
Do I need IT department approval or a hospital contract to get started?
No. Prevexium is a web-based platform that runs entirely in your browser. There is nothing to install, no network integration required, and no IT ticket to open. Individual IPs, nurse leaders, and consultants can sign up and start using Prevexia AI within minutes. Facility-level licensing is available for teams that want shared access and centralized billing.
How is Prevexia different from a general AI chatbot like ChatGPT?
General AI chatbots are trained to answer anything for anyone. Prevexia is purpose-built for infection prevention professionals. Its responses are cited and verified with evidence-based guidelines from the CDC and the regulatory agencies that govern the topic — OSHA for occupational exposure, EPA for disinfectants, FDA for device reprocessing, CMS for Conditions of Participation, and NHSN for HAI surveillance definitions. It applies a strict conservative-ruling policy when guidelines are ambiguous. It knows the difference between a CAUTI definition and a symptomatic UTI. And it was designed by a DNP, CIC-certified IP who used these tools in clinical practice, not by a software team guessing at what IPs need.
What sources does Prevexia cite?
Prevexia cites the agency that actually governs the question. The CDC for infection prevention guidance and NHSN specifically for HAI surveillance definitions and reporting; OSHA for bloodborne pathogens, respiratory protection and worker safety; EPA for disinfectant selection and contact times; FDA for device reprocessing and instructions for use; DOT for transporting infectious substances; CMS for Conditions of Participation; USP for compounding; AAMI, AORN, SHEA, IDSA and APIC for practice standards. Every citation links to the source so you can read it yourself. When guidance is ambiguous or sources conflict, Prevexia defaults to the stricter, more conservative ruling to protect patient safety.
Can I use Prevexium if I am not a certified IP?
Absolutely. Prevexium was built for the full spectrum of healthcare professionals who work alongside infection prevention. Nurse managers, charge nurses, surgical tech leads, and healthcare administrators all use Prevexium to run environment of care rounds, understand isolation protocols, and stay survey-ready. The Academy courses are designed for every experience level, including professionals who are new to infection prevention responsibilities.
How do I try Prevexium before I pay?
Both Pro and Max start with a 3-day trial. You add a payment method when you start and are not charged until the trial ends, so you can cancel any time before then. Trials include Prevexia AI, Salvium and Inspectus. When the trial ends your plan begins: $49 per month for Pro, or $150 per month for Max. Both are single-seat plans for individual practitioners and include the same three products; Max is for an IP whose day runs on it and includes more monthly usage. For a facility, a health system, or any team sharing one account, Facility & Enterprise is priced by contract and is the only plan that includes Vigilum.
